NotesThe Photo Laundry is a new form of photo exhibition where we no longer need galleries or museums to enjoy the artworks. Everyone is welcome to show their work in the improvised gallery made of washing lines. Moreover, you will get a chance to take home an image that took your fancy in return. Also, if you are interested in giving the talks on different aspects of photography, illustration and creative business in general, we are looking forward to hearing from you! Print some of your best shots, come to enjoy Laura St Festival, take clothes pins and hang your prints on our washing line for viewing and exchange! Schedule: 1pm - Event starts, and we start hanging photos (each participant is allowed to hand up to 5 prints). Viewing only, no exchange yet. 2:30pm - exchange starts! You will be given small stickers to "book" the photos you like to take them home after the event ends. PLUS photographers' talks (to be announced later) 6pm - exhibit is closing Contact the organisers ([email protected]) for more information and prepare your prints for the first Brisbane photo laundry! Check out a previous Photo Laundry event from Sydney I photograph to survey how things are in places that can appear strange for the reality they comprise. I’ve photographed the red-white-and-blue Australian national flag in most places I’ve seen it since 2007. I began this in response to seeing how the flag was used during riots at Cronulla in 2005; now the series also looks at other meanings this symbol represents. A blank book and pens will sit to one side of the prints into which viewers may respond to the question: ‘If I was an Australian flag, where would I be?’ With viewers’ consent these thoughts will accompany the series in future exhibitions. An interactive, collaborative weaving experience! We will be installing / adorning a frame with yarn, vine and all things that can be woven into and around it. Bring your own weave-able projects or pick one up in the Collaborative Weaving Circle.
